Cork is the second largest city in Ireland, and it is located south in the nation. It has a population of 120,000 people, but get much larger if you add the metropolitan area as well. The city is built around the River Lee which divides the city into the eastern and the western side. Cork has some nice churches, a large seaport, a nice shopping area and it is quite easy to travel to Cork with for example train or by bus. Another popular attraction in Cork is the famous Blackrock Castle and observatory, located a bit outside the city centre of Cork.
What many people do is that they travel on a day trip combining Cork with a visit to the Blarney Castle, a beautiful and magical castle on the Irish countryside. At Blarney Castle you will also find the stone giving you the gift of perfect speech, if you kiss it!
