The Irish Museum of Modern Art is located in the finest of all Irish buildings from the 17th century. If you have been to Kilmainham Gaol, you might have read about the Royal Hospital as well, which is located a short way from the former prison. Inside this former hospital visitors can today enjoy the Irish Museum of Modern Art. The building was inspired by Les Invalides in Paris and it was also inspired by the Royal Hospital in Chelsea.
The museum was opened in 1991 and is growing rapidly in size and in popularity.The Irish Museum of Modern Art has free entrance for everyone and is open Tuesday – Saturday from 10.00-17.30 and from 12.00-17.30 on Sundays.
